Relativistic and correlated calculations on the ground, excited, and ionized states of iodine

چکیده
The electronic structure, spectroscopic, and bonding properties of the ground, excited, and ionized states of iodine are studied within a four-component relativistic framework using the MOLFDIR program package. The experimentally determined properties of the Sg 1 ground state are well reproduced by our results calculated at the CCSD~T! level of theory. Relativistic effects and core– valence correlation need to be included in order to get reliable results, but the Gaunt interaction can be neglected. The photoelectron spectrum and the potential energy curves of the ionized and excited states are calculated using relativistic configuration interaction and coupled cluster methods. The calculated properties of the excited states are generally in good agreement with the experimental data, as well as with the earlier theoretical results of Teichteil and Pelissier. An alternative assignment of some recently measured, low lying, ionized states is proposed. © 1997 American Institute of Physics. @S0021-9606~97!02945-0#

Microscopic Parameters in the Excited State of Toluene and Some of Its Haloderavatives
The Ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectra of toluene, ortho-bromo and para-bromo toluene in different solvents have been studied. The electric dipole moments and polarizabilities in the molecular excited electronic states were determined. It was found that the electric dipole moments for the excited states (µ*) and the ground states (µ) of these compounds are equal, and the change in dipole moment i...
متن کاملQuantum-Chemical and Solvatochromic analysis of solvent effects on the Electronic Absorption Spectra of Some Benzodiazepine Derivatives
ABSTRACT The solvatochromic behaviour of two ketonic derivatives of benzodiazepine namely 7-chloro-1-methyl-5-phenyl-1,5-benzodiazepine-2,4-dione (Clobazam®) and 5,(2-chlorophenyl)-7-nitro-2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodiazepine-2-one (Clonazepam®) were analysed in some selected solvents of different polarities using UV-Visible spectroscopy and DFT computational techniques. The solute-solvent interacti...
متن کاملA combined photoelectron spectroscopy and relativistic ab initio studies of the electronic structures of UFO and UFO(-).
The observation of the gaseous UFO(-) anion is reported, which is investigated using photoelectron spectroscopy and relativisitic ab initio calculations. Two strong photoelectron bands are observed at low binding energies due to electron detachment from the U-7sσ orbital. Numerous weak detachment bands are also observed due to the strongly correlated U-5f electrons. The electron affinity of UFO...
متن کاملCoupled Cluster Calculations of the Ground and Excited Electronic States Using Two- and Four- Component Relativistic Spinors
The coupled cluster based linear response theory which is applicable to the direct calculation of atomic and molecular properties are presented and applied to compute the ionization potentials and excitation energies of light and moderately heavy atoms. The effect of electron correlation on the ground and excited states is studied using Hartree-Fock, Dirac-Fock and approximate two-component rel...

This manuscript is the collection of lectures given in the summer school on strongly correlated electron systems held at Isfahan university of technology, June 2007. A short overview on quantum magnetism and spin systems is presented. The numerical exact diagonalization (Lanczos) alghorithm is explained in a pedagogical ground. This is a method to get some ground state properties on finite clus...
